We've been working hard this winter
We hope this newsletter finds you well and enjoying the start of spring! 😉❄️🥶 We have some exciting news to share with you about some exciting changes happening. We have been working hard to update our branding, and we can't wait to share our new look with you! New look, same Bliss We are also thrilled to announce that we have been hard at work with a local brand designer, Linnea Austrum from Red Wing, to update our logo, branding, and product labels. Our new look is fresh, professional, and reflects our commitment to supporting local women-owned businesses as you do with us. You may have already noticed the changes on our website, and we will soon be rolling out the new labels on all of our products. Limited Edition Lip Balm Last year we introduced our beeswax lip balm and it became our #1 seller. So the past couple of months we’ve been preparing exciting new lip balm flavors that we can't wait for you to try. Our new seasonal flavors include Peach Pomegranate, Bacon & Bourbon, and Bananas Foster, all made with our signature beeswax & lanolin recipe. Plus, we are upgrading our tubes getting them custom-printed with sustainable paper and plant-based ink and coatings from a small business in Oregon. These new flavors and packaging will be available later this year, so stay tuned for more updates. Summer Soaps And finally, get ready for summer with our new limited-edition soap scents, available April 1st. We have kept Peach Hibiscus from the last 2 years and created three new scents to help you relax and rejuvenate: Grapefruit Mint, Peach Hibiscus, Red, White, & Blueberry, and I Love Yuzu. Be sure to check next month's newsletter for an exclusive deal on the summer set.As always, thank you for your support of our family-owned business. We couldn't have come this far without customers like you who care about natural self-care and supporting local businesses.

It's a low bar to beat Hi-Bar Liquid vs. BarCurley vs. Straight Treated vs. Natural There is a lot of shampoo in the world, but what makes them different? Liquid vs bar, curly vs straight, treated vs natural… So many choices We’ve learned a lot researching and making our own shampoo bar so we’ll share a few secrets. You probably did not know but liquid shampoos commonly include silicone to fill in the cracks and pores that are caused by coloring, treating, and using harsh temperatures and products. Silicones go by the names of: Amodimethicone Cetyl Dimethicone Cyclopentasiloxane Dimethicone Dimethiconol While silicones do make your hair feel soft and smooth they don’t treat the root of the problem. 😉Each wash the silicones are removed and replaced. Natural ingredients can soften your hair by conditioning and letting your body’s natural oils do what God intended. Apple cider vinegar is a mild cleanser Sodium Lactate (food-grade salt from fermented vegetables) is a humectant to draw in moisture from the other ingredients Cocoa Butter is crazy good at conditioning and repairing hair over the first few uses. Intuitively oil in your hair sounds like a bad idea, but the minuscule amount imparted by the shampoo, in combination with sodium lactate, is what does the repair. What about a conditioner? Our recipe has a lye-to-oil ratio (0% of the lye remains in the finished bar) to make it so that a small portion of the oils do not turn into shampoo (this is called a superfat in soaper's lingo". The ‘superfat’ is a conditioner in the same way that our other soap makes your skin feel soft after using it. That is what conditioning is!Some brands of bar shampoo combine lower-cost ingredients to create similar effects as a high-quality shampoo bar. Ingredients like: “Cetearyl Alcohol” is a fatty acid used for moisturizing “Stearic Acid” is a waxy emulsifier used to coat and ‘protect’ the hair shaft like silicone in liquid soap “Rice Protein” is used for volumizing. Ingredients like these are not necessary if you start with quality ingredients. Cocoa butter and canola oil are already amazing natural ingredients that moisturize. You do not need a coating to “protect” your hair if it is healthy, and you don’t need a ‘volumizer’ if your hair isn’t weighed down by other heavier coatings! We're updating our business model We’ve decided to update our business model around soap scents. Instead of making a bunch of seasonal scents at once, we will rotate them throughout a season to give you more variety. Of course, our most popular scents, The Wild Outdoors and Carrot Rosemary face soap, will always be available but we will trim down and offer 2 seasonal scents at a time. This will allow us to focus our efforts since we currently also work full-time. Our batch sizes will also be halved so once we sell out of one seasonal soap we will replace it with another. In September, we will start out with Warm Embrace (a musky manly scent) and Pumpkin Pie (with added spices). When we run out of one of those scents we will have Spiced Apple Cider ready for you. When we announce each new scent we release you can pre-order to make sure you get some before they’re gone! Rewarding supporters like you Second, we are starting a rewards program for our loyal customers (that’s you!). Bubble Rewards will reward you for #treatingyoself. For every $10 you spend with us in-person or online you will get a stamp on your Bubble Rewards card. When you get 8 stamps you will be able to redeem your card for a free product. This is rolling out just in time for the Christmas shopping season so stock up on gifts starting in September to get your Bubbles! Behind-the-scenes You may have also noticed us posting on Facebook and Instagram more recently about the business and behind-the-scenes, and we truly hope you’re enjoying it. We have been talking to a mentor, and she suggested we try and open up to you more about how things work from our side of the business. If you have any questions you’d like us to answer or any particular behind-the-scenes you want to see let us know so we can share content that you would like to see. Congrats to Maria, our SUMMER gift box winner! Congratulations to Maria, our summer gift box winner. We randomly choose a new winner every season to get our top soaps and she won. When we met up with Maria she was getting ready to head back to college and was planning on getting a pack of soap from us before she left, so this was good timing. 😍Thank you to Maria for supporting us, we hope you have a good fall semester!

Testing, testing, 1, 2, 3 Sneak peek of what we're testing for this year. It's been a bit of a whirlwind since Christmastime. Josh and I both had covid but have since recovered. I lost my smell for a few weeks and wasn't able to smell anything so experimentation with new scents was put on hold. But we are now able to test (and smell!) all kinds of new scents for the year.We are making some modifications to our seasonal lineups and learning new skills to bring more good things for your sink and bathtub. We're so excited to share them with you!Do activities make good gifts? In our December Newsletter I told you about gifts that Josh and I have given each other and both enjoyed. For our birthdays (mine is this month) we usually give each other a small gift and go do an interesting activity together. I've taken Josh to a cooking class where we made street tacos and to Upstairs Circus where I made a leather clutch and he made a cutting board. We know that experiences are becoming more popular as gifts for some people, but we wanted to know from you. Do you think experience makes a good gift? Specifically, do you think a ...
